Weekly Poker League
Every Thursday at 8pm will be a $10+$1 UKGIPL League Match.
Entry is $11 ($10 seat cost plus $1 fee).
50% of the accumulated prize pool will be paid in prizes
The prize structure will be:
- 1st Place = 50%
- 2nd Place = 25%
- 3rd Place = 15%
- 4th Place = 10%
Winners will be notified of the amount of prize they can expect, you can of course work it out, Players Entered, multiplied by $10, multiplied by 50%, multiplied by the prize structure position %age.
50% of the accumulated prize pool will be held back to fund the quarterly freerolls (see further down)
Players will also be awarded points for entry into, and for performance in these weekly league matches
- 10 points will be awarded for winning the match (plus you will also win first cash prize)
- 5 points will be awarded for finishing second (plus a likely cash prize)
- 3 points will be awarded for finishing third (plus possible cash prize, dependent on number of entrants)
- 2 points will be awarded if you finish in any other cash paying position
- 1 point will be awarded to all players for entering the tournament
We expect that in the first few weeks entry numbers will be low, so it is a great chance to build up an early points lead, hey if it worked for Brawn GP, it can work for you!
Things to Note
- The Weekly UKGIPL Poker League Matches can be found in the Circus Poker lobby in Scheduled Tournaments section.
- The first one is on Thursday 25th June 2009, at 8pm UK Time
- The prize pool illustrated in the poker client will be set to $100,000. Do not get excited, we are not playing for $100,000 every week. We have to put a default value into the prize pool, in order to make the 50% payout structure work. Don’t worry about it, it’s one of those technical work around things which I am sure as someone who works in the UK Gaming industry, you are familiar with!
- Players can join the league at any point during the ‘season’
- Season runs from 25th June 2009 to 10th December 2009
- The league table will be published here, once a week.
So every week you have a chance to win money and win points towards.....
Quarterly Poker Freeroll
Every 3 months, the first one being Thursday 17th September 2009, and the next and final one (for this season) being Thursday 10th December 2009. Again the tournaments are schedule to start at 8pm UK time.
- Entry is by invitation only, is a freeroll, and is open to the top 25% of the league at that point in time.
- The prize pool is made up from all of the 50% prize pools from the previous weekly tournaments.
- Sept 17th’s prize pool, is made up of the 50% of prize pools from June 25th to Sept 10th.
- Dec 10th’s prize pool, is made up of the 50% of prize pools from Sept 17th to Dec 3rd.
- There are no points of offer for performance in the quarterly poker freeroll.
Things to Note
The Quarterly UKGIPL Poker Freerolls can be found in the Circus Poker lobby in Scheduled Tournaments section.
The prize pool illustrated in the poker client will be set to $100,000, see above for explanation.
Invites to the poker freeroll are non transferable.
Gamesaid
Circus Poker are donating 15% of all rake and fees generated by UK Gaming Industry players, in any game they play on Circus Poker to Gamesaid. GamesAid is a new UK video games industry based charity. It distributes funds to a diverse range of charities; it is a means of giving something back on behalf of the industry. So the more you play, the more you can win, and the more you can give back!
End of Season Event
We are also planning an end of year special event. The exact details will be finalised in the next few months, and is dependent on the number of players we sign up to the UKGIPL, however, whatever it is, it promises to be ‘a bit special’. We will keep you posted by email and on this page.
If you are at all unclear about any of the points above, see the foot of this page for an example as to how it will work.
UK Gaming Industry Poker League
League Table to be displayed here from Friday 26th June
Examples
Weekly Poker League
In week 1, if we get 15 players entering, the total prize pool generated by the tournament will be $150.
The poker tournament will commence on 2 tables, with 7 players on one table and 8 on the other.
The actual tournament prize pool will be $75.
The other $75 will be held back and put into the pot for the September Freeroll.
The winner of this week’s tournament will receive $37.50, 2nd will receive $18.75, 3rd will receive $11.25 and 4th will receive $7.50
Furthermore, all 15 players will receive 1 league point. The winner will get an extra 10 points, 2nd will get an extra 5 points, 3rd will get an extra 3 points and 4th will get an extra 2 points.
Quarterly Poker Freeroll
By September, we have managed to build up a freeroll pot, from the 50% of the weekly prizes, of say, $1500.
The players in the top 25% of the league after the weekly tournament on Sept 10th, will be invited, by email to take part on the Quarterly Poker Freeroll.
Let’s say there are 50 players in the league at this point, 25% would be 12.5 players, so we’ll invite the top 13 players into the freeroll.
The winner would win $750 (50%).
Bonuses
Our usual fantastic poker bonuses apply.
