Seat 7, Table 1

So the weekend was upon me before I knew it, and I found myself in Circus Casino at Star City, Birmingham drawn in seat 7 on table 1. Was this to be a lucky omen? Well, no, as it transpired.
Armed with a short-ish skirt and CircusPoker.co.uk Cap I was ready to go!
Predictably I was the only woman on the table, with thankfully, no notable professionals which was a bonus from the start. With a deep structure, there was inevitably going to be a tight feel to the table at the start, two hours gone, decent starting hands = none.
Having bet the river on a K high bored (with top pair) after a caller of a re-raise on the turn, I’d dented my stack considerably, and was kicking myself at the error. Still a double through was round the corner, with my Queens standing up against Jacks. I was back in business!
A few hands later and I picked up the rockets. A tight table meant there was little point in slow-playing,
raising it up to 900 on a 150/300 blinds on the cut-off I received one caller in the big blind which put me in the perfect spot. The flop came Q ,Q , 6 with two diamonds.
The big blind bets out 900, there’s a big range of hands for this bet, very few I’m behind, so I decided to define my hand. Re-raising to 2,500, I was expecting a fold to be honest, not the re-raise all-in that followed.
Folding, I showed down the aces and he turned over AQ. Very frustrating, even though I’d made a good decision. Back down to 8,000, I sneak back to 9,000 by the dinner break.
Soon after the dinner-break I raise to 1,100 under the gun with Kings, to get a call off the short-stacked small blind.
Odds on he gets a call anyhow. The flop brings A, 6, 2 rainbow. Now any decent bet pot commits me here, a 3k bet from me therefore is sadly called immediately by A, 7.
I now find myself back to a short-stack, and I’m determined not to drift lower.
Small blind checks, so I bet 1k, leaving me with 2,700 behind. The button folds and big blind eventually re-raises me all in. The chance to get back to 9k with top pair is too good for me to pass and leave myself dead in the water. Unfortunately he holds Q, 6 and I’m out by virtue of the kicker.
All in all I was happy with my play, albeit a tad tight. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming around the table and I was forced to seek solace in the variety of casino tables, hey ho!
Thanks to the CircusPoker.co.uk team for an excellent and enjoyable tournament, and even providing a cap that I managed to look ok in.
