Card Games

Red Dog

Red Dog differs from the rest of the poker family because players do not compete against the banker or other players, and the hand ranking is unlike traditional poker.

The game is built around the concept of spread, which is the distance of values between two cards, with Jacks counted for 11, Queens for 12, Kings for 13 and Aces for 14. The spread is the amount of cards that lay between them, so the distance between 7 and 9 is 1 and distance between 8 and King is 4.

How to Play

Red Dog has only one type of bet, which is placed. Two cards are then drawn and the spread is worked out. If you draw two consecutive cards (eg 7 and 8), the game is a push and your wager is returned to you. If the drawn cards are equal, a third card is drawn, and if this is the same again, you immediately win 11 to 1; if not, the game is a push as above.

In all other cases you should now calculate the spread and either raise or call. Raising is doubling your bet and calling is simply proceeding.

How to Win

The third card is now drawn. If the card fits inside the spread, you win and your payout will be calculated from the payout table. If the card matches one of the first two cards or doesn't fit inside the spread, you lose.

If you win a hand, you get your bet back along with your winnings. On a spread that pays even money, you will receive double your bet amount in case of a victory. If you win on a spread of 3, that pays 2:1, so you get double your bet in winnings plus your bet back.
