Blackjack Surrender

If you like Blackjack, but are a cautious sort of player, then Blackjack Surrender might be the game for you. It has all the excitement of common Blackjack, but with a handy get-out clause if you don’t fancy your cards much!

How to Play

As in common blackjack, the aim of the game is to get your cards to add up to a total as close to 21 as possible, without going over, and a higher total than the dealer.

You place your bet and then are dealt two cards face up, while the dealer gives themselves one card, also face up. When working out your total, remember that cards from 2-10 are worth their face value, an Ace can be worth either one or 11, and all picture cards (Jack, Queen and King) are worth 10.

At this point, if you do not think your cards are worth playing, you can choose to ‘surrender’, and you get half of your initial bet back.

If you carry on, you then choose whether to Hit, Stand, Double or Split. The dealer then plays their hand according to predetermined rules.

How to Win

The dealer does not play by personal intuition or choice, if their cards total less than 17, they must hit, while if they total 17 or more, they must stand.

After the dealer decides either to stand, or goes bust, those hands which beat the dealers win. The payoff is usually 1:1, meaning that you win the same amount as you bet.
