Poker run to get to record books

Posted by Carl Barnett on 05 May 2010 at 10:05

An effort to get into the Guinness Book of Records has led to a fire-fighter organising a huge poker run in New Hampshire, with a large turnout expected.

Don Kraemer is hoping that the weather will be good on the run’s expected date of May 1st, but he will start it anyway, in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of world Records as the largest poker run.

He is a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, which is a club made up of American and Canadian based motorcycles riders who are in some way connected to the Fire Service.

Any money raised from the $10 entrance fee will be donated to the Fallen Fire-fighters organisation fund, with many other fundraising events taking place too to boost the total.

The event will also include a barbecue at the end of the proceedings, as well as prizes for the best poker hand of the day.

Kraemer told TelegraphNeighbours.com: ‘Uncertain weather is the hardest part of organising an event like this.’

There have been literally hundreds of poker runs organised in all areas of the globe, with the largest one so far believed to be one in 2009, with over 2,000 riders.
