An American woman has smashed the record for the longest craps roll, reaching four hours and 18 minutes at a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The associated press (AP) said Patricia Demauro set the record at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, bettering the previous record by one hour and 12 minutes.
The achievement was all the more remarkable given Ms Demauro, from Denville, New Jersey, turned out to be something of a novice.
Quoted by AP, she said: "This was only my second time playing craps, so this was very exciting for me to be a part of history,"
She beat the record of Stanley Fujitake of Honolulu, who achieved his feat in Las Vegas two decades ago.
AP added Ms Demauro bought into the game for $100 and played to 12.31 am, rolling the dice 154 times and attracting a considerable crowd.
The casino declined to say how much she won.
