Women are dominating the ranks of online social players on a global scale. According to a survey by PopCap games, there are 100 million consumers of social game experiences worldwide and the majority of them are women.
According to the survey, 38% of players of social games on sites like MySpace and Facebook are women.
Women are also more likely to spend time with their friends online, with 68% interacting with their friends while playing with these games online.
The most popular games on a weekly basis are some quite familiar titles. Farmville is the most popular, with 69% of survey respondents stating that they played at least once a week.
Bejewelled has a player total percentage of 65%, while Texas Hold’em Poker has a total of 63% of worldwide players using the sites.
The average age of the female player is 43.
This news comes as the world of online gambling in the United Kingdom is showing very positive growth, but not significant growth from female players.
