The Black Belt Poker London Live event produced a strong line up this weekend, with some players arriving in London from all over the world, as well as from strong backgrounds, including players more famous for taking part in the World Series of Poker.

The event was a $200 buy-in, and brought in a 300 strong showing.

Paul Pham ended up winning the event, with a very strong lead on chips which converted to an overall win at the final table.

Mr Pham is a VIP manager from an online card room, and he took home a $15,000 winning total from the event.

He beat Karim Louis at the end of the session, and admitted that he learnt his craft as many do nowadays, using the online poker community.

Talking to the Black Belt Poker blog, he said: ‘I play pretty much all my poker online and am mainly a cash game player. I don’t play live very often and have only played three tournaments so far. I only played this one because the structure was deep and it suited my game.’

Online poker is becoming increasingly popular as a source of training for would be land based poker champions.
