Pennsylvania makes regulations for table games

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has discussed and created new regulations for the training and play of table games in casinos.

The Board unanimously agreed a large number of gaming regulations, including items that instruct dealers in training matters, as well as detailed guidance on the running of games.

The regulations as regards dealers are quite stringent, and require dealers to be trained in any game that they deal in, gaining accreditation through recognised schools or casino facilities that have acquired a licence.

Dealers can qualify to deal in the state with experience, but must show that they have dealing experience in other jurisdictions, with six months being the minimum requirement.

The rules state that dealers have training in a number of areas, including resuscitation and recognising the traits of problem gamblers on a game floor.

For a game such as Blackjack the Board states that dealers need to have instruction totalling 120 hours over a six week period before they have the opportunity to take their skills to the table.

The Board approved the adding of table games to Pennsylvania less than six months ago, and this latest raft of regulations is another example of the state legislating heavily as regards gambling.
