Kentucky looks at racing options again

In Kentucky, a Republican senator has made a last ditch attempt to breathe new life into a sports betting industry that is on the decline.

Racing fans, both laypeople and politicians, have had a frustrating time in recent months, but the senator feels that he has put together a proposal that will make a difference.

Senator Damon Thayer has said that he hopes that his proposals will make some progress as the state heads towards the second half of its legislative period.

Speaking to Forbes.som, Thayer said: ‘I wish the horse industry could stand on its own four feet. But the competitive situation is tilted against the horse industry in Kentucky.’

In the House, Rep Harry Moberly introduced another bill this week that hopes to reinvigorate the debate regarding gambling in the state, and its ties to horse racing.

He introduced a bill that is aimed at expanding the gambling options available at the racetracks in Kentucky.

On Friday, he called his bill a ‘last-ditch effort’ to reach agreement on ways to assist the racing industry.

There has been some impact with the growth of online casinos and online gambling in general, an impact that Kentucky’s lawmakers hope to reverse.
