The head of the Ontario lottery, who is newly appointed, has commented on the viability of including online gambling in the offering his company makes.
He has stated that his province should think carefully about including online casino games as a way of keeping funds within the state, rather than them being accrued by outsiders.
Paul Godfrey was speaking at a press conference last week when he made his comments, which have again put lottery companies in the spotlight as regards what they bring to players.
There is a string feeling in Ontario at the moment that the province will privatise its lottery operations.
Many of the figures on the board come from a very strong business background.
Godfrey has mentioned that he feels adding online gambling to the lottery ‘only makes sense.’
There are the beginnings of online gambling in lottery operations in other provinces such as Nova Scotia, Quebec and British Columbia.
Godfrey spoke at the press conference about the need to keep money inside Ontario: ‘Money is going out of this province to other provinces as well as offshore sites.’
