Lawmakers have been presented with a new bill by a state representative by the name of Joseph Abruzzo.
The bill proposes a method whereby the state of Florida could properly regulate the online casino industry, and keep the business occurring through sanctioned sites within their state boundaries.
The branch that has special responsibility for pari-mutuel gaming would give the state the possibility of licensing online gambling hubs. These hubs would provide opportunities to deliver online casino experiences exclusively for Florida residents.
Existing online casino sites would be listed and approved by Florida legislators, and would then be viewed as affiliates.
Any account to be created for a Florida resident could only be created in person, with paperwork that accounts for the legal status of the person who wished to open an account.
Once they have their account, the Florida residents are then allowed to play at these affiliate casino sites, as long as their computer is located and registered within Florida boundaries.
Affiliates would be charged a $1,000 licensing fee, while the hub operators would have to pay $500,000 fee.
The state would take 20% of any income derived by the affiliate casinos.
