ESPN.com has launched their latest rankings table for the world of online poker, with some by now familiar names dominating the top of the leader board.
The rankings that ESPN issue do not focus just upon the biggest winnings players receive, instead ESPN maintain that their rankings are aimed at showing the rest of the poker community who is playing at their best right now.
The rankings, affectionately known as ‘The Nuts’ currently has Phil Ivey at the very top of the table.
While there were no major tournament wins in February, Phil Ivey has a very impressive cash game record, which has kept him at the top of the ESPN leader board.
Jason Mercier is another name that is fast becoming familiar to fans of online poker.
Mercier is a rising star, sitting at number 2 in The Nuts.
He has won a number of high level tournaments in the past few months.
He spoke to ESPN.com about his being pushed up the ranks: ‘It’s pretty cool (to be number 2). I think I’ve reached as high as I can go. I don’t think I have any chance of beating out Ivey.’
All variations and types of poker are included in the rankings, including online poker.
