A new casino planned in Park City, Oklahoma, has proved to be a controversy.
The Wyandotte tribe announced plans to build the casino last year, stating that they were planning to build the new casino complex adjacent to The Wild West World.
The tribe’s application for building looks set to be agreed in the coming months, giving Oklahoma a completely new casino.
The tribe already has some foothold within the industry, with a casino in Kansas that has a total of 500 slot machines in it.
A spokesman for the Wyandotte tribe, Billy Friend, is highly confident that the new building will go ahead.
He thinks that the new casino will be in place by Christmas of this year.
He spoke to Gambling Online Magazine about it, saying: ‘We’ll probably open up with a $20 million to $30 million dollar property with 1,200 slot machines, 120 seat restaurant.’
‘We want to build a destination resort and casino. We want to come in and provide jobs. We would like to see that developed, we think there’s a lot of potential there.’
The plans are controversial due to the fact that another casino is planned for the same space, with a legal battle over planning permission now under way. There is still healthy growth in the land based casino industry, despite a huge amount of interest in the online casino sector.
