Congressmen behind Barney Frank

Missouri’s congressmen continue to push hard for a preferred solution to the ban on Internet gambling payment processing, which is due to be discussed further in the summer by the US government.
William Lacy Clay and Russ Carnahan have both officially become co-sponsors of Barney Frank’s bill that is expected to detail how the United States can regulate online gambling activity.
The two men have criticised the controversial; UIGEA ban, by saying that it was ’disingenuous’ to think that the ban would stop United States citizens from using online casinos.
The two congressmen were also part of the group that persuaded the US government to consider delaying the implementation of the ban so that congress could debate it further.
Clay has spoken to onlinecasinoadvisory.com, stating that: ‘We should not be so naive to think that we are going to do away with gambling by passing that law.’
Carnahan also commented, saying: ‘It’s (online gambling) the kind of thing that requires clear rules and regulations so that it functions well.’
John Pappas, representing the Poker Player’s Alliance, agreed, stating: ‘People are playing online by the millions. Whether you like it or not, the genie is out of the bottle.’
