The Argentinean player Jose ‘Nacho’ Barbero has just become the first Team poker Stars Pro player to win a Latin American Poker Tour event.
The Punta Del Este is a prestigious event on the poker calendar, and Barbero took first place.
The tournament normally attracts a lot of poker players, but this year there was a considerably large field, with 306 players vying for the title.
This meant there was a prize pool of just over $1,000,000 for the players to have a stake in.
A total of forty-eight players made money from the tournament.
Barbero took home the big prize, with a $279,330 first prize reward.
The final table was made up of a number of players, with a few different nationalities represented at the end.
Alongside Barbero, there were two other Argentinean players on the final table.
In addition, there were two Brazilian players, one Colombian, and a local player from the host nation of Uruguay.
There was only one player from outside South America on the final table, a Frenchman named Nicholas Cardyn.
He finished second, taking home $161,550.
Poker is also becoming increasingly popular online too, with players from across the globe taking advantage of the currently very attractive and rewarding online casino games.
