European officials have asked France to alter and clarify parts of its new law for opening online gaming to competition.
The European Commission asked the country to include a point saying that authorities, when approving gaming firms, take into account conditions they are already having to abide by in countries where they are already operating, Total Telecom reports.
French Budget Minister Eric Woerth said France would be supplying new information on how a new regulator created by the law will run and consider demands already on international gaming firms.
He also said the ministry would be looking at whether or not a limit should be imposed on the maximum proportion of bets paid back to players. France is due to implement the new law at the start of January next year.
The Commission has noted there has so far been no evidence to back up the idea of a link between gambling addiction and the rate of return of winners.
