PartyGaming hails casino games as revenue rises

Online gaming specialist PartyGaming has seen its casino revenues increase even though players have been easing off due to the arrival of summer weather.

The Press Association reports the company said the increase was down to a higher number of games it offers at its main casino site, Party Casino.

Across the group, the firm described trading in the second quarter as robust, the agency reported, with revenues in line with the previous three months.

One of the games which saw a small decrease in players was poker due to the changes of season and greater competition from US-based sites.

The closure of the European football season also saw sports revenues slide.

According to the Press Association, the company chief executive, Jim Ryan, said the firm was going from strength to strength with a double-figure increase in revenue despite the ongoing economic storm.

Quoted by the agency, he said: "The group's strategy remains on-track and I am pleased that many of the seeds we have sown over the past year are now beginning to bear fruit."

The firm's shares went up by more than two per cent after Thursday's updates.
