Findings from new research show that many in the US gambling industry believe online gambling will be legalised within the next 2 to 3 years.

The annual G2E Future Watch survey was carried out at the Global Gaming Expo this week, and the results show many industry experts are confident legalisation will happen soon.

The survey fields responses from professionals who work in the gambling industry, and was reported by Gaming Today.

As regards the corresponding revenue boost in the gambling market, 29 per cent of respondents stated that they thought online gambling income would reach the $18 to $20 billion mark by the year 2014.

One of the questions in the survey asked when the United States would allow online gambling, and 50 per cent of the respondents stated that they thought this would occur within the next two years.

Around 31 per cent of the experts who were surveyed stated they believed the timeframe to be a little less immediate, offering a three to five year period as their answer.

Many legislators are concerned about security and other issues, but the experts asked to respond to the survey were confident safeguards and measures could be put in place to keep online gambling safe and prevent fraud.
