The President of an influential gaming body has issued a warning to those hopeful of a quick turn of fortunes for the industry.
Frank Fahrenkopf Jr, who is the President of the American Gaming Association (AGA), was in attendance at the Global Gaming Expo this week.
He addressed the issue of online gambling in front of a crowd of industry experts, many of whom were casino owners and operators.
Many of these experts do not believe that the recession will end any time soon, or at least not in a way that will benefit their industry.
Echoing this, Fahrenkopf, Quoted by Online Casino Advisory, said: “Without a doubt, the gaming industry is facing a long road to recovery”.
However, Fahrenkopf stated during the Expo that he felt the AGA may address the issue of online gambling and online casinos when they meet up in December.
The AGA has opposed online gambling for years, but Fahrenkopf has said previously that they are becoming a little less firm against the idea of online casinos and gambling.
It remains to be seen what the impact of his comments will be as the year progresses.
