Obama to visit Vegas

President Obama is due to visit Las Vegas soon, on a tour aimed at fundraising. The president is already viewed with some concern by many Las Vegas residents, due to his comments earlier this year about the city and the casinos in it.

He offered his opinion on the city, stating that he did not feel it was somewhere that United States citizens should be spending their money.

This understandably caused some resentment towards the president.

However, his visit is looked forward to, for the obvious media benefits the city will receive when he arrives for his two day tour.

Since the recession started, many Las Vegas casinos have seen their fortunes take a downturn, with a number of institutions having to lay off workers and cut back on operations.

Some casinos have reported profits already this year, however, and it is hoped that the visit will spike growth.

A science professor at the College of Southern Nevada, Mark Peplowsi, spoke to Gambling Online Magazine about the impending visit.

On the site, he said: ‘He’ll say twice I said something about Las Vegas and twice I got sent to the Principal’s office. But then he’ll probably say something more serious to apologise.’

His visit comes at an interesting time, with the UIGEA set to revolutionise the online casino market in the summer.
