Hawaii closer to gambling being legalised?

Lawmakers in Hawaii are considering resurrecting the issue of legalising gambling in the area, after a number of years of the issue being a taboo. For a very long time the state has never permitted the creation of casinos, and this has been accepted begrudgingly by the many gamblers who use online gambling sites to indulge their hobby.
However, the state now appears to be seriously considering discussion on the issue, with some commentators believing there to be a real chance that the legalisation could happen.
In Hawaii, gambling lobbyists have spent a lot of time and money trying to persuade lawmakers and politicians that legalising the pastime is worthwhile.
These pleas have fallen on deaf ears so far, but it is felt that issues with the state budget could force the hand of the people who run the state.
There is a deficit, and this deficit totals nearly a billion dollars. Some lawmakers feel that the tax that could be derived from legal gambling could rejuvenate the economy.
Representative Marcus Oshiro, speaking to casinogamblingweb.com, said: ‘I think we should have a public hearing. It’s been about ten years since we had a good public hearing on these issues.’
