Cambodia to embrace casino development

Posted by Carl Barnett on 22 Feb 2010 at 09:02

The undying appeal of casinos to countries and their governments across the world continues, with the latest new casino development occurring in Cambodia. The Titan King Casino will open towards the end of this month, and will be a large concern, employing over 6,000 workers.

It will be located nearby the border the country shares with Vietnam. The aim of the casino is tourist-led, with the government expecting to draw in thousands of tourists due to the fact that the country now has a new gambling draw to add to an already rich travel experience.

The owner of the new casino, Kith Thieng, spoke to Reuters recently, saying: ‘Most gamblers will be Vietnamese but my goal is to attract people from other countries. I want to promote the fact that Cambodia has enough places for entertainment.’

Singapore had casino expansion happening in the last few days, with its first casino opening, with a facility created by the Genting group.

Meanwhile, in America, the large casino concerns in places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City are suffering from falling revenues, perhaps due to the fact that online casinos have taken up so much market share in the last few months.
