The Governor of Kentucky has written a letter to senior lawmakers asking that they think again about the expansions of gambling in the state.
Governor Steve Beshear feels that expanding the gambling options already available in Kentucky would help push financial growth in the area.
He feels that additional gambling is necessary to bridge the deficit in the budget, which is a major issue for some people in Kentucky.
House Speaker Greg Stumbo and Senate President David Williams have responded to what the Governor has said, and it has not been a wholly positive response.
Both men made a counterargument that stated that the budget deficit could be met and addressed without resorting to increasing the amount of gambling in the city.
Williams made some strong comments as regards the letter, making it clear that he felt that Beshear was posturing. Hoping to pick holes in the already struggling finances in the state.
Beshear believes that important services like education and health will be affected by a poorly serviced budget, which is why he recommends the introduction of more gambling to boost revenue.
American casinos are suffering both from the results of a deep recession and the constant growth being enjoyed by online casinos and gambling concerns.
