Atlantic City offers $2 blackjack

In Atlantic City, a place that has long been synonymous with gambling, there are signs that the recession has hit the industry hard.
For the first time in the city’s history, a local casino is offering Blackjack tables at $2 a play.
Resorts Atlantic City offers a $2 Blackjack table as part of its nightly gaming presentation.
The low cost game does have some profit-based incentive for the casino, which levies a fee on top of the cost, with 25 cents a hand being taken in by the casino’s organisers.
However, the decision to create a low cost game is in contrast to the Atlantic City image of yesteryear, where gambling activity was on a par with Las Vegas. The casino has made it clear that they may not stop at the Blackjack tables, with the new costing being viewed as an experiment by the management.
This means that they may extend low cost gaming to other tables and games throughout the casino.
Steve Schwartz, of Gaming Analysts, told casinogamblingweb.com: ‘Atlantic City casinos need to do anything they can to bring customers through their doors these days. If $2 Blackjack brings customers, then we may start seeing more casinos in Atlantic City offering the tables.’
This is all happening as the US lawmakers are discussing the UIGEA, with a view to changing the law on online casinos and their income in the summer.
