Faster broadband has great implications for online casinos

New fevelopments in the world of online casino games and internet support suggests online gambling formats could run much faster than they do now.
BT is currently working on installing fibre optic cables around the whole of the UK, which will ensure the download speed of most Internet connections will be significantly faster by 2012.
The aim is to increase download speeds so users can enjoy speeds of 40-60 megabits per second.
This is considerably faster than current speeds, which for some users can be as slow as 1 megabit per second.
This has clear implications for the world of online gaming.
Once super fast broadband has been properly introduced into the country, the way games are played is expected change.
There will be improved graphics and sound, and the opportunity to watch live streams of betting games on screen.
Paul Beattie, vice president of content operations at Orbis, believes that the newer, much faster Internet connections will allow online casinos to offer much more value to the consumer.
He says "We would probably look at making them more interactive and including potentially more betting opportunities within the game".
British Telecom plans to have half the country using faster broadband by 2012.
