The online presence of British bookmaker William Hill has become the third most visible casino website in Britain, according to research published by E Gaming Review.

WilliamHillCasino is now third in the rankings, which demonstrate how visible websites are to search engines.

The research was put together for EGRmagazine.com by GreenLight, a search marketing firm.

Top of the tree are still 888 and SpinPalace, although both of them are facing a stiffer test from their rivals.

According to the magazine's report, William Hill has gone past its rivals casino.com and casino.co.uk in terms of visibility.

WilliamHillCasino leapfrogged both to come in third.

The rankings are a list of sites which are best optimised for Google's British-slanted search engine platform Google.co.uk.

According to E Gaming Review William hill upped the percentage of searches in which its site registered on the first page of results to 36 per cent in June.

This is compared to 34 per cent when an identical list was drawn up earlier this year.

According to E Gaming Review, its close rivals casino.com and casino.co.uk have both fallen sharply registering first page appearances in 35 per cent and 30 per cent of searches respectively.

This is compared to 42 per cent and 38 per cent in April.

The statistics on the two sites at the top of the list, 888 and SpinPalace, see the former on the first page of results in 60 per cent of casino related searches, compared to 63 per cent in April.

The latter was on the first page of results in exactly 50 per cent of the searches, compared to 54 per cent in April.

The research also showed the 20 most visible sites for casino-related terms, including non-casino sites which have casino related content. This includes pages such as Wikipedia and film site IMDB.

According to the E Gaming Review figures, 380,000 casino-related searches were made in June.

Figures also show the key search terms, with 'casino' the most common, making up 35 per cent, 'online casino' figuring in 19 percent of searches, and 'casino games' used in only four per cent.
