Gamblers could be turning to the internet instead of traditional destinations like Las Vegas as the recession continues to bite, according to reports.
Online Casino News says the Nevada gambling capital is struggling as visitor numbers decline.
According to the site, casino gambling income in Las Vegas fell by 17 per cent in July and is still sliding.
Recently some of the city's best known hotel casinos have been slashing room rates and offering extra bonuses in an attempt to turn things around.
Instead players are turning to online casinos were they can save on travel costs and get access to a range of games "oftentimes equal those that you will notice in a land established casino", according to the site.
Officials in Las Vegas have recently said companies are turning their attention to diversifying their appeal and are attempting to win back custom in the business conference sector.
