Hospitalised casino tycoon is 'doing better'

Hospitalised Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho is in "very good" condition, according to his third wife.

Chan Un Chan was quizzed by reporters outside the Hong Kong Hospital where he underwent surgery, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.

According to Hong-Kong based newspaper Apple Daily, Ho suffered a stroke and was having mobility problems. Chan denied that the 87-year-old Ho was unconscious.

He was first taken to hospital after a fall in which he hit his head, according to earlier reports.

According to Chan, who spoke outside the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, Ho is
"doing better".

Ho, known by many as the father of Macau's gambling industry, is chairman of SJM Holdings and held a monopoly in the sector in Macau until international investment was permitted in 2002.
