The inaugural Estrellas Poker event saw a considerably large field of 260 players enter, and the tournament has just wound up in Malaga, Spain.
A player called Vedast Sanxis won the event, which saw players from over 20 different countries travelling to the Spanish venue to take part. Sanxis took a first prize reward of over €60,000, and secured a place in the next major event in Barcelona, Spain.
Sanxis was obviously excited about his victory, and told PokerNewsHeadlines.com: ‘I can’t believe it. It’s like a dream. And I had luck in the key moments!’
The TeamPokerStars Pro player Juan Manuel Pastor spoke to PokerNewsHeadlines.com too, saying: ‘This first Estrellas event has been a huge success. All the players I have been talking to have been saying that it’s actually the best event they have ever been to in Spain. I can’t wait now for the next event in Alicante and I’m sure it will be a sell-out.’
The top eight players in the event came from mainly two European countries, Spain and Germany.
There was one English player in the top eight, Richard Cashman, who took just under €10,000 as prize money.
This excitement in the world of poker has been matched with a rise in recent months in the popularity of online poker.
