The Massachusetts casino bill has passed the crucial first stage, and now looks to be going to the Senate for further validation.
The bill, which was raised by speaker Robert DeLeo, proposes two new casino facilities in the state, and will potentially create thousands of jobs in the area, which will benefit during this financial recession period from more revenue.
The bill was debated and discussed for just two days, and the lawmakers brought a high level of support for the plan, which received a healthy margin of support, turning out at 120-37 in the final count.
State Representative Daniel E Bosley is against the plan, and has argued that people in the area will spend less money on the Arts and cultural agenda, due to the fact that they would rather spend their disposable income on casinos.
The bill will now face further clarification talks in the Massachusetts Senate. If t is passed by that body, then the bill will be free to move forward and the casinos will be built.
The surge in online casino profits has brought tougher times for land based casinos in the United States, which are seeing falling revenues.
