Celebrity poker to benefit charity

A host of celebrity poker legends have joined up with an exclusive charity foundation to put together a fundraising poker game, one which has prizes that are a little out of the ordinary.
The X Prize Fundraiser will be held in an exclusive location, and will feature such poker legends as Annie Duke and Lawrence Bender.
The players will play for extremely high stakes, with one prize being the new Tesla Roadster, an electric car that has a 0-60 mph speed of four seconds.
The charity aims to support breakthroughs for the betterment of humanity, and the prizes in the contest echo this theme, with one prize being a flight aboard a spaceship.
Robert K Weiss, President of the Foundation, told CraveOnline: ‘Competition stokes the creative fires and the drive to win leads to heroic acts. The X Prize foundation looks to catalyse breakthrough innovations that benefit humanity through well designed incentivised competitions.’
Any people wishing to attend the charity poker event can purchase a ticket for $8,500.
Poker continues to be a popular pastime, especially in the Western world, which has seen a growth in online poker rooms and sites that run online casino games.
