A celebrity dominated ‘warm-up’ event for future charity poker tournaments has taken place in a casino in Leeds in the United Kingdom.

With many stars from screen and sports, the tournament was organised by one of the main actors in a popular UK soap opera, Emmerdale.

Kevin Fletcher organised a group of 20 celebrities on the night, to play poker as a chance to warm up for future tournaments, all in the name of charity. Fletcher won on the night, beating off some stiff competition from Marvyn Williams, who is famous for his work on Channel 4’s Shipwrecked.

Speaking to Intergameonline, the customer relations consultant at the Leeds based casino venue said: ‘The evening was a great success. It was a pleasure to welcome so much local talent into the casino and everyone had a great time. We have so much to offer. Kevin’s celebrity crew will be back in a few weeks to fundraise on a regular basis for a selection of worthy local charities.’

Poker is big business in the UK, with online poker adding to the positive levels of success the pastime has enjoyed in recent months.
